The workshop offers lettering and inscriptions in a wide range of materials and methods – not just in stone.
The foundation of the workshop is letter carving – that is letters carved with hammer and chisel in slate or stone. However – our passion is for lettering and inscriptions rather than any one particular material. It means that as well as carved slate and stone we design for lettering in a wide range of materials from digitally printed glass to laser cut stainless steel.
Commemorative plaques and architectural lettering can be offered in a material that responds sympathetically to its surroundings and makes for a an attractive inscription.
Brass is often an appropriate material to use inside churches for example, and glass makes an attractive and contemporary option for modern interior spaces.
Whether it’s an etched brass plaque or architectural letters in steel the aim is always the same – a visually attractive inscription using great design and materials appropriate to context.
Everything made by the workshop is bespoke, and designed especially. If you’d like to discuss an idea for a possible inscription we’d love to hear from you. Consultations are free of charge and studio visits are always welcomed.
